Safeguarding Policy

Last updated 25 September 2026Supersedes any earlier version

1. Our commitment

We are an online academy, and every lesson we deliver puts a teacher and a child together in a virtual room. That means our responsibility for a child's safety is not an add-on to the service, it is part of the service. We treat every lesson as a space the parent knows about and can enter, not a private meeting between an adult and a child.

Our approach rests on three foundations: the teacher's certificate is verified before the first lesson, the parent may attend or stay nearby at any lesson without asking permission, and all contact between teacher and student stays inside the Academy's own channels.

Any concern a parent raises is treated as serious until the review is complete, and we never ask a parent to produce proof before we will listen.

2. How teachers are verified before they teach

We verify the certificate of every teacher before any lesson is assigned to them.

3. The parent's right to be present

A parent may attend any lesson, or remain within earshot of it, at any time, without notice and without asking permission.

This is a standing rule. It does not lapse with time, with the number of lessons taken, or at a teacher's request. No teacher may ask a parent to leave the room or the meeting, and no teacher may suggest that a child learns better without an adult present. If that happens, it is on its own sufficient grounds to raise a concern with us.

We recommend that the device the child studies on sits in a shared area of the home rather than a closed room, and that the door stays open during the lesson. This is not a condition of the service, but it is the arrangement we advise.

4. We do not record lessons

Lessons are not recorded. No audio, no video, no screen capture.

A lesson is a live session that ends when it ends. No copy of it is kept, by us or by the teacher.

This is a deliberate choice rather than a limitation. Recording a child's lesson means holding that child's voice and image, and every stored copy is a further risk to their privacy however carefully it is kept. The safest copy is the one that was never made.

It follows that:

  • A teacher may not record a lesson, screen-record, or capture camera stills, whether on their own initiative or at anyone's request
  • A parent or student may not record the lesson, photograph the teacher, stream it, or publish any clip of it on any platform or group, in order to protect the privacy of the teacher and of other students
  • A breach of this rule by any party is sufficient grounds to end the service

What replaces recording is stronger than it: the parent's right to be present, set out in section 3. You may sit in on the lesson itself, at any time, without notice and without asking.

5. Communication between teacher and student

All lesson-related contact goes through the Academy's channels or through the parent. There is no direct channel between a teacher and a child.

Strictly prohibited:

  • A teacher giving a student their personal number or messaging account, or asking for the student's number
  • A teacher contacting a student on social media, or accepting a friend or follow request from one
  • A teacher arranging a lesson or meeting outside the Academy's system, whether through a private meeting link or any direct arrangement with a parent
  • A teacher suggesting the student keep any secret from their parents, on any subject
  • A teacher asking a student for personal information unrelated to the lesson, for photographs, or for information about their home and family
  • A teacher giving a student a gift or money, or accepting either from a student

Follow-up messages and homework are sent through the system or to the parent. The parent's WhatsApp number that we hold is for administrative contact from the Academy, and it is not given to teachers for their own use.

A teacher who breaches any of these points is suspended from lessons pending review.

6. If you have a concern

Do not wait until you are certain. Telling us while unsure is better than staying silent.

How to reach us:

Email info@futureskill.online

Telephone +44 20 8187 0212

WhatsApp, which is the same number +44 20 8187 0212

Chat link https://wa.me/442081870212

Contact hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 16:00 UK time.

Response times:

  • A safeguarding concern: we acknowledge receipt within one working day
  • Any other complaint: we acknowledge receipt within two working days

Please include the child's name, the teacher's name, the date of the lesson and what happened, as far as you are able. If you do not have every detail, send what you have rather than delay.

If you believe a child is in immediate danger right now, contact the police or emergency services in your country of residence first, then tell us. We are not an emergency service and we are not a substitute for one.

7. What happens once a concern is raised

  1. Receipt and logging. The concern is entered in an access-restricted internal register and tracked by the Academy until it is closed and you are told the outcome.
  2. Precautionary action. Where the concern relates to a teacher's conduct, that teacher is suspended from lessons as a precaution while the review runs. Suspension is precautionary and is not a finding of guilt, but a child's safety comes before a teacher's convenience.
  3. Review. The review is carried out by the Academy’s management, not by the teacher concerned and not by their direct supervisor. We review system logs, the booking record and the correspondence, hear the parent, then hear the teacher.
  4. The child. We do not question the child. If it is necessary to hear the child's account, it is done with the parent present and with their agreement.
  5. Outcome. We tell the parent the outcome and what action was taken. Action may be further training, a formal warning, or termination of the teacher's engagement and a permanent bar on working with us.
  6. External reporting. Where we judge that the matter warrants reporting to a competent authority in the United Kingdom or in the child's country of residence, we report it. We do not wait for a parent's permission where a child's safety is at stake.
  7. Lessons not yet used. If a teacher is suspended, we offer you a replacement teacher. If you do not want a replacement, we refund the unused part to the same payment method you paid with, with no administrative deduction. There is no credit and no validity period. We issue the refund within 14 days of being told, and the money may take up to a further 10 working days to reach your account depending on your bank. Details are in

Refund and Cancellation Policy

A parent does not lose lessons or money because they raised a concern.

Records of concerns and their outcomes are kept for in line with the data retention rules in our Privacy Policy.

Anyone who raises a concern in good faith faces no adverse consequence, even if the review concludes the concern was not well founded.

8. The Children's Code and children's data

Our service is likely to be accessed by children, so we follow the Age Appropriate Design Code issued by the Information Commissioner's Office. In practice that means:

No account for a child. The account belongs to the adult parent and holds one or more child profiles. A child does not create an account and does not purchase.

No profiling of children. We do not build a behavioural profile of a child and we do not use a child's data to infer characteristics or preferences about them.

No behavioural advertising. We do not serve advertising targeted on a child's behaviour, and we do not sell or share a child's data with advertisers or data brokers.

What we actually collect. This is the same list as the one in the privacy policy:

  • About the parent: name, email address, WhatsApp number, country
  • About the child: first name, school grade and curriculum, and notes the parent writes for the teacher
  • Also: attendance and progress records, and audio and video during the live lesson with no copy of either retained

We do not ask for a child's home address, photograph, school, or anything else not needed to deliver the lesson.

High privacy by default. Lessons are never recorded, and a child's data is not shared beyond what delivering the service requires. Who we share with is set out in the privacy policy.

No nudge techniques. Our design does not push a parent or a child towards providing more data or lowering privacy settings.

Parental rights. A parent may request a copy of their child's data, its correction, or its deletion. Details are in

Privacy Policy

9. We never ask a child for payment details

No one from the Academy, no teacher, and no message sent in our name will ever ask a child for card details.

Payment is made from the adult parent's account only, through the checkout page on our website only. We do not request card details by email, by WhatsApp, inside a lesson, or on a telephone call. We do not store a card for later charges and there is no automatic renewal. The trial lesson is free and no card details are requested for it at all.

If your child receives a payment request from anyone claiming to be us, it is not from us. Do not respond to it and tell us at

info@futureskill.online
