What parents ask before the first lesson: the teachers, the timings, payment and refunds, and your child's safety. Every answer here is taken from our published policies.

Before you book10 questions

What does the academy offer?

Two tracks, both online, with one teacher for one student.

  • Private lessons in the same subject and curriculum your child studies at school
  • Quran memorisation circles at a fixed weekly time
Is the lesson one-to-one or in a group?

One-to-one. One teacher for your child alone, for the whole lesson. It is not a class with other students in it.

What ages do you teach?

From kindergarten to secondary school. The teacher is matched to the subject, your child's grade and age.

What subjects do you teach?

Maths, Arabic, English and science, in your child's own school curriculum. Some of our teachers also teach French and social studies. Quran memorisation circles are coming soon.

Which curricula do you teach?

We follow your child's own school curriculum, whichever country it belongs to. When you book from a teacher's page you choose the curriculum and grade, and if that teacher does not teach them you are shown teachers who do.

Where are the teachers based?

In several countries. Each teacher's profile shows the languages and curricula they teach.

How do you check a teacher before they teach?

We verify the certificate of every teacher before any lesson is assigned to them.

Is the trial lesson really free?

Yes. One free 30-minute trial lesson per student, with the teacher you choose.

We do not ask for your card details for it, and it carries no obligation.

What if the teacher is not right for my child?

We suggest another teacher. If you have bought a package, whatever you have not used is refunded to the payment method you paid with.

How long is a lesson?

Fifty-five minutes inside a booked slot of sixty minutes.

The remaining five minutes are a deliberate gap between one lesson and the next. They are not taken from your child's time.

Lessons and timing8 questions

How do I book?

In four steps, all on the page of the teacher you choose.

  • Choose your child's curriculum and grade.
  • Choose the number of lessons, then a day and time from the hours the teacher has opened, shown in your time zone.
  • Review the dates and pay at checkout.
  • Your booking confirmation arrives by email with the lesson time and link.
Which time zone do the slots show in?

Your own, not the teacher's.

And your booking confirmation is the single source of truth for when the lesson is.

What times are available?

They differ from teacher to teacher. Each teacher publishes their own hours on their profile, and those hours are shown to you in your time zone.

What happens when the clocks change?

Your local lesson time can move by an hour for a few weeks a year.

Our teachers and our families sit in different time zones, and some countries change to summer time on different dates from Europe.

Where is the lesson held?

On Google Meet, through a single link sent to you by email. There is no in-person teaching.

Can I reschedule a lesson?

Yes, free of charge and with nothing deducted, provided your request reaches us at least 24 hours before the scheduled start.

The 24 hours run from the moment your message reaches us, at any hour of any day. Confirmation of the new slot may arrive on the next working day.

A postponed lesson must be taken within two weeks of its original date in a pack of 4, and within one month in a pack of 8.

What if my child is late?

The teacher stays available for fifteen minutes from the start of the slot.

If the student does not join within that time and we had no notice, the lesson counts as used.

What if the teacher does not attend?

The lesson is not counted against you at all.

We offer you an alternative slot or an alternative teacher first, and if neither suits you we refund that lesson with nothing deducted. The choice is yours.

Payment and refunds10 questions

How much is a lesson?

The price of a lesson is the price of the teacher you choose, shown on their card and profile before you book, in your own currency. Packs take a discount off that price: 5% for four lessons and 10% for eight. The figure you see is the figure you pay, and the current range is on the pricing page.

How do I pay?

By card on a secure checkout page, and you review the order summary and the cancellation policy before you pay.

As soon as the payment succeeds we email you a receipt carrying the company name and registration number, a description of what you bought, the amount and the currency.

Which currency am I charged in?

Your own country's currency as shown on the page, and the currency is named in words before you confirm.

Our settlement currency is pound sterling, because the company is UK-registered. If your card is in another currency, your bank may apply an exchange rate or a conversion fee. That charge comes from your bank, not from us.

Is anything added at checkout?

No. The figure you see when booking is the figure you pay, with no extra charge at the last step.

What exactly am I buying?

Three options and no others: a single lesson; a package of four lessons, one a week for four weeks; or a package of eight lessons, two a week on two different days, for four weeks. You see every date before you pay.

Does anything renew automatically?

There is no automatic renewal. A package ends when its lessons end, and nothing is taken from your card on its own.

Do I get back what I have not used?

Yes, to the payment method you paid with, with no administrative deduction.

We hold no credit and no points, and there is no validity period on anything.

How are lessons I have already taken counted?

Within the first 14 days, pro rata to the package price you paid. After that, at the single-lesson price. The rest is refunded to you either way.

When does the refund reach me?

We issue it within fourteen days of being told.

Your bank may take up to ten further working days to show it, and that is the bank's time, not ours.

Do I have a statutory right to cancel?

Yes, a fourteen-day right to cancel under UK law.

The conditions and the exceptions are set out in the Refund and Cancellation Policy.

Safety and privacy7 questions

Can I sit in on my child's lesson?

Yes, any lesson, at any time, without notice and without asking permission.

This is a standing rule that does not lapse with time or with the number of lessons. No teacher may ask you to leave the room, and if that happens it is reason enough on its own to raise a concern with us.

Are lessons recorded?

No. Lessons are never recorded, in audio, video or screen capture, and no copy of a lesson is kept by anyone.

What takes its place is stronger: you may sit in on any lesson, at any time, without notice and without asking.

Can a teacher record a lesson?

No. A teacher may not record the lesson, take screenshots, or capture images from the camera, under any circumstances.

Does my child need their own account?

No. The account belongs to the parent and can hold more than one child profile.

A child may not open an account or make a purchase, and is never asked for payment details.

What data do you collect about my child?

Only what is needed to deliver and follow up the lesson, and the consent is yours as the parent, not the child's.

What we collect, why, how long we keep it and who we share it with is set out in the Privacy Policy.

How do I raise a concern or a complaint?

By email or WhatsApp, using the details at the foot of this page.

We acknowledge a concern about a child's safety within one working day, and anything else within two working days.

How do I contact you?

On WhatsApp at +44 20 8187 0212, or by email at info@futureskill.online.

Our contact hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 16:00 UK time.
